چکیده
Aerobic granular sludge (AGS) is a special type of biofilm formed by the self-aggregation microorganisms and extracellular polymers considered promising technology for wastewater treatment. However, new strategies are still being proposed as to how improve polymeric substances (EPS) production that influences formation AGS. Recently, acceleration aerobic granulation using autoinducers such N-acyl-homoserine lactone (AHL)-mediated quorum sensing has been reported. it not yet fully understood due knowledge gaps on correlations depending AHL used. In this study, evaluate effects various AGS activated sludge, secretion substances, formation, characteristics were comprehensively investigated. Among types, tightly bound EPS (TB-EPS) loosely (LB-EPS) in reactor with C8-HSL added 18.49 74.07 mg/g VSS, respectively, which represented increases 3.15% 53.76% compared control group. Additionally, increased relative hydrophobicity biomass volume 153% 218%, respectively. As result, had positive effect content, an increase size, improvement sedimentation early stage granulation, was found be most suitable initial among types.

Biogranulation has been studied widely and successfully industrialized for the last two decades. Biogranulation technology for wastewater treatment includes anaerobic and aerobic granulation processes. Even though anaerobic granulation has been relatively well studied and known, studies on aerobic granulation have begun recently. The aerobic granular sludge is known to have denser and stronger ...
متن کاملAerobic Sludge Granulation in a Full-Scale Sequencing Batch Reactor
Aerobic granulation of activated sludge was successfully achieved in a full-scale sequencing batch reactor (SBR) with 50,000 m(3) d(-1) for treating a town's wastewater. After operation for 337 days, in this full-scale SBR, aerobic granules with an average SVI30 of 47.1 mL g(-1), diameter of 0.5 mm, and settling velocity of 42 m h(-1) were obtained. Compared to an anaerobic/oxic plug flow (A/O)...
متن کاملInfluence of Calcium, Magnesium, and Iron Ions on Aerobic Granulation
In this study, we investigated the effect of different multivalent cations on granule formation. Previous experiments showed that formation of matrix EPS and their structure depend of the presence of divalent cations. This study indicates that trivalent cations are also playing an important role. However, the more compact granules were formed in the presence of all cations. The authors tried al...
